Cody Fisher, 21, a semi-professional footballer and PE teacher, was on a Boxing Day night out with friends at the Crane club, in Digbeth, Birmingham. He was approached whilst on the dancefloor by a group of people before being fatally stabbed in front of horrified Christmas revellers.<\/p>\n

Tragically, Cody couldn’t be saved and was declared dead at the scene around 30 minutes later. West Midlands Police confirmed a post mortem gave a cause of death as a stab wound.<\/p>\n

Revellers at the nightclub criticised security searches at the event and recalled a ‘moody’ atmosphere inside the venue, where popular techno DJ Marco Carola was playing.<\/p>\n

Sydnee Power, from Birmingham, described ‘groups of lads’ who were ‘looking to cause trouble’.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old said:<\/p>\n

‘As soon as me and my friends walked in, we got a very weird vibe and the atmosphere wasn’t good.<\/p>\n

‘There were just groups of lads everywhere, most of them looked moody.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Kami Carpenter, 21, and Remy Gordon, 22, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on 4th Jan 2023 charged with murder. Trial is planned for 3rd July.<\/p>\n

Mr Carpenter, of no fixed address, and Mr Gordon, of Cofton Park Drive, spoke only to confirm their names during the seven-minute hearing and are next due to appear in court on 17 March for a plea and trial preparation hearing.<\/p>\n

Tributes have flooded in for the beloved sports coach, who worked at Woodrow First School and Nursery in Redditch.<\/p>\n

One tribute outside the nightclub says:<\/p>\n

“Mr Fisher we are gonna miss you so much. You were the best PE teacher and inspired me so much.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Girlfriend Jess wrote online:<\/p>\n

“My whole world, the love of my life, my best friend has been taken away from me.<\/p>\n

“This doesn’t feel real. I love you forever Cody Fisher.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Mr Fisher had played for several non-league Midlands clubs, most recently Stratford Town, and was previously part of Birmingham City academy.
\nA statement on the Southern League website reads:<\/p>\n
