Kurdish migrant murders and beheads Swedish woman
After teen ended relationship killed her and hid severed head in bedroom
Swedish Wilma Andersson, 17, was reported missing on 14th Nov 2019 in Uddevalla, a small town with a 35,000 population, an hour North of Gothenburg.
She was last seen just before visiting the flat of her Kurdish ex-boyfriend Tishko Ahmed Shabaz, 23, where she had gone to collect her belongings, after recently ending their relationship.
During the ensuing search for her, Shabaz acted normally, on the 18th November eating at a local McDonald’s restaurant with friends.
Ms Andersson’s mother Linda told a local TV network that she confronted her daughter’s ex-boyfriend in the days after her disappearance.
“I kept ringing the doorbell,” she said. “But he only said that they had had an argument and that she just ran out of the apartment.”
Shabaz’s neighbours told police they had heard screaming from his flat and on November 28, after he had been arrested on suspicion of murder, Andersson’s severed head was found in his bedroom, wrapped in Aluminium foil and tape which Police discovered had Shabaz’s fingerprints on.
Prosecutors claimed Wilma had died on November 14, the day she went missing, and that her ex-boyfriend had cut up her body. Police found blood on the floor of his flat and matching Wilma’s on a large kitchen knife and on the skirting board.
A unnamed police chief said: “The suspect has retained a body part for an unknown reason and got rid of the rest of the body.”
Prosecutors claim Wilma was subjected to ‘repeated violence’ during her death.
Wilma’s devastated mum Linda has issued an emotional appeal begging people to continue their search and help her to find the rest of her daughter’s body.
She told Swedish media: “We want to find our daughter and sister. It is completely inhumane that we go through so please do not stop looking for Wilma.
During a trial in May 2020, despite the evidence, Shabaz pleaded not guilty of the murder charges.
In mid July, the Swedish National Board of Forensic Medicine found that the accused did not have any serious mental illness, but displayed a highly narcissistic personality, epitomized by a grandiose, inflated self inconsistent with his accomplishments. They noted a shallow and flat range of emotions and a remarkable lack of empathy.
On July 27 Shabaz was found guilty of murder as well as violating the victim’s corpse. He was sentenced to life in prison. He was also ordered to pay 227 664 SEK in damages (about 22 thousand euro) to Andersson’s family.
Court documents revealed that Shabaz was born 1997 in a Kurdish region in northern Iraq before coming to Sweden at the age of eight in 2005, with his father and stepmother. He was given Swedish citizenship in 2014 and joins a 100,000 Kurdish migrant population in Sweden.
The rest of Andersson’s body has still not been discovered.
